The Best Beaches in Port Macquarie

The beaches on offer across the sprawling Mid North Coastline are some of the most beautiful spots in New South Wales.

Port Macquarie’s beaches in particular have something for everyone. Whether you are looking for a family friendly beach, the ideal surf break, fishing spot or a 4wding playground you will find your dream beach in Port Macquarie.

We’ve put together our list of Port’s top beaches for you to visit on your next holiday.

Town Beach

Town Beach is one of Port Macquarie’s most popular beaches being famous for its great location and is a beach that has something for everyone.

Families love visiting Town Beach for its parks, picnic facilities, walking track to the breakwall, cafes, easy parking and the famous Town Beach Playground & Skate Park. With plenty of amenities at each end of the beach it’s easy to understand why this is such a popular spot.

The south end of the beach is the starting point of the iconic Coast Walk and is also a great spot for relaxing under an umbrella or exploring the rocks. The Salty Crew Kiosk is located here and we love stopping here for a morning coffee or a delicious serving of goodness.

The northern end of the beach is headed by the breakwall with its painted rocks and is a great photo spot. Visit Breakwall HQ for a coffee or an ice cream whilst the kids go crazy in the playground.

Surfers and board riders enjoy the breaks at this beach and if you are just starting out, reach out to the team at Port Macquarie Surf School to learn how to surf.

Flynns Beach

One of the most picture perfect beaches in Port Macquarie is found nestled on the coastline a short 5 minute drive from the CBD. Flynns Beach is an iconic must-see beach when you are on holiday and a local favourite.

Flynns Beach is the home of the Port Macquarie Surf Life Saving Club and is patrolled during the peak holiday seasons. Check out their website for updates on patrols.

Grab a bite at the very chill Sandbox right on edge of white sands. Start with breakfast and we know you’ll be back for lunch.

Nobbys Beach

Named after the unmissable Nobby Head, Nobbys Beach is a little grove of paradise on the Port Macquarie Coastline. Dog lovers unite at this off leash dog-friendly beach. Located just south of Flynns Beach you will find the beloved Nobbys Beach. Enjoy this gorgeous stretch of beach on the Coast Walk or if you are lucky you might get a park in the small parking area.

Nobbys Beach in Port Macquarie is not a patrolled beach so please be careful if you decide to swim here.

Lighthouse Beach

Stretch out and enjoy the expansive coastline from Lighthouse Beach in Port Macquarie. From the historic Tacking Point Light House enjoy whale watching from May to November.

The more experienced surfers enjoy the swell and the beach is patrolled from September to April by the Tacking Point Surf Life Saving Club. While here be sure to visit COAST Lighthouse Beach for the most amazing coffee and cafe delights.

Moving south down the beach you can catch a camel ride with Port Macquarie Camels during the school holidays. Just turn up and remember to bring your cash as the camels don’t carry eftpos.

Fishermen and 4WD enthusiasts alike love the long stretch of beach at the southern end of the beach where 4WD vehicles can enter near the camel rides.

If you are looking for the perfect long beach walk location this is it. With its soft white sands and relaxing feel you can enjoy that perfect morning or afternoon beach stroll. If you have your furry friend with you they can enjoy off-leash freedom south of Watonga Rocks.
